Eric East said.Dominion East Ohio spokesman Neil Durbin said crews were called out to repair the gas line.SUMMIT COUNTYRecount requestsSUMMIT COUNTY: Two Summit County candidates who didn’t qualify for automatic recounts plan to pay to have them done.Northfield Mayor Victor Milani and Sylvia Hanneken, a Macedonia mayoral candidate, requested the paid recounts. Milani lost to challenger Jesse Nehez, a Northfield councilman, by about 100 votes in the Nov. 8 election, while Hanne­ken was defeated by two-term Mayor Donald Kuchta by about 50 votes, according to official election results.The recounts cost $55 per precinct. Milani asked for a recount of the entire village, while Hanneken requested a recount of just Precinct B.The Summit County elections board will do the recounts at 8 a.m. Friday, along with the automatic recounts for races that were separated by less than half of a percent.The automatic recounts will be of the Akron school levy, Norton council at-large and Stow school board.The board previously said an automatic recount would be done of Issue 63, a Twinsburg charter amendment that failed by 27 votes.After further review, the board determined the issue was one vote short of qualifying for an automatic recount. Candidates namedCOLUMBUS: The Republican House Caucus is considering three people for the 43rd District seat vacated by Todd McKenney, who was appointed Summit County probate judge.The candidates are Anthony DeVitis, a small-business owner and Green city councilman; Gary Peters, a Coventry Township businessman; and Nick Skeriotis, a Suffield Township resident, president of S&K Asphalt and Concrete and a member of the Portage County Republican Central Committee.House Speaker William G. Batchelder, R-Medina, said the candidates will be interviewed by a screening panel before the full caucus makes the appointment.
